GREENVILLE – There truly is always something to do at Brethren Retirement Community. Many residents love the numerous opportunities to participate in a variety of activities, but one very popular event, Coffee with the President is an exclusive "men’s only" event. As the men gather monthly, it is evident this is an activity they look forward to every time. As they share a cup of coffee, topics are discussed, questions are answered, suggestions are made, and most importantly they enjoy the fellowship of their neighbors and friends.
John Warner, president and CEO, reflects by sharing, “We began the President’s Coffee to provide a specific men’s activity for the fellows who call BRC ‘home’. We meet monthly and discuss a variety of topics from sports to farming to current events and so on. This particular meeting we talked about the Super Bowl and the upcoming Reds Spring training. Last month we talked about the Blizzards of ’78 & ’36! In addition to our dialogue we provide the men with updates on things happening around BRC including maintenance, dining services and business. This meeting has been well received and we usually have 15 or so men participate on a regular basis. I look forward to getting together not only for the fellowship but I also learn a great deal from these friends.”
One of the highlights of the meeting was the beautiful music shared by Dr. Jesse Heise, resident. Dr. Heise opened and closed the meeting with his remarkable talent and the beautiful sound of his harmonica. After a meaningful devotion, fun trivia, business review, and of course a cup of coffee the men were adjourned.
