Benefit planned for Ron Dirksen on 11/9

ANSONIA – A benefit dinner auction is set for Nov. 9 at the Ansonia American Legion for Ron Dirksen.

Angie Brown and Christine Kruckeberg, Dirksen’s daughters, have come together once again to support their father in time of need as esophageal cancer has returned.

Due to the extent of the cancer his wife, Marilyn (Treon) Dirksen, has had to take leave of absence from work to take care of the love of her life.

Dirksen has returned to radiation, which includes 20 days of treatments. This becomes a daily routine: hospital, pharmacy and then home. Cancer has consumed the days of freedom of a normal lifestyle.

But with phone calls and cards from family and friends and special laughter from grandchildren always helps take away the thought of cancer and brings laughter and memories to mind and heart.

Doors the night of the benefit will open at 5 p.m. with supper at 6 p.m. The auction begins at 7:30 p.m.

The menu for the supper includes shredded chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce and cake for $6. Drinks include beer, water and soft drinks.

There will also be kettle corn, 50/50 raffle, bake sale and music.

Donations will also be accepted. All money raised will go towards medical bills and travel expenses for doctors and treatment appointments.

For more information, contact Angie Brown, 337-0295, or Christine Kruckeberg, 564-1656.
