Special prom planned for local residents

VERSAILLES – Stars of Paradise is a formal prom event for all developmentally disabled individuals (age 16 and older) in Darke County. This is the second year for the event hosted by the Versailles Christian Church. Stars of Paradise will take place on April 12, 7-10 p.m., at the Greenville Elks Lodge, 214 W. Third St., Greenville. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

This fun-filled tropical themed evening includes music provided by DJ Moose, dancing, delicious food, bags, professional photography, and much more. All attendees will receive leis, glow bracelets and a photo CD after the event. Caregivers are encouraged to attend Stars of Paradise.

Reservations are required by April 5 by calling the church, 526-4194.

The following salons are offering free hair styling services on April 12 for those attending Stars of Paradise. Please call a salon for an appointment and you’re requested to come with clean, dry hair and wear a button down shirt so you can change easily into your formal gown. Making Waves, 548-4591 (appointments available from 2-4 p.m.), Studio One, 547-1119 (3 p.m. appointments with Colleen, Bethany and Diane), and D & Co. Stylists, 548-9232 (appointments available from 2-6 p.m.). The following businesses are offering discounts on formal wear to those attending the event – Christina’s on Broadway, The Store on Martin Street, Arnett’s Consignment and Country Bridal & Tux (50% off tuxedo rental), all in Greenville.
