GREENVILLE—Members of the Darke County Chapter of the American Red Cross were on hand Feb. 25 as the Darke County Commissioners proclaimed the month of March as American Red Cross Month.
In 2012, the Darke County Chapter of the American Red Cross and it’s volunteer-led disaster action teams responded to 32 local emergencies, assisting 17 families and volunteers from the Darke County Chapter provided assistance all across the country to those impacted by flooding, storms and other natural disasters.
The Chapter trained more than 5300 people in lifesaving skills such as CPR, first aid and the use of automated external defibrillators.
The Darke County Chapter assisted 83 military families and visited countless veterans in assisted living facilities across the county.
The local chapter is supported by more than 160 volunteers and donors.
The proclamation acknowledges “the contributions of the Darke County Chapter of the American Red Cross to the quality of life in our county, we must partner and do our part to ensure that the Red Cross remains vital, ready to help us prevent, prepare for and respond to the emergencies and disasters impacting the families of our community.”
