Custom game board versions of Monopoly called “Your Town-Opoly” are created by Pride Distributors Inc. of Farmington Hills, Michigan. Pride Distributors, Inc., developed the “Your Town-opoly” program as a fundraiser for community organizations more than 10 years ago.
Taking the basic concept of Monopoly -- players strategically use fake money to buy property on a game board and profit from opponents who pay as they land on them -- Darkeopoly puts a local spin on the popular Hasbro board game: all of the spaces on the board are unique Darke County businesses, organizations and landmarks.
Spots on the game board are sold for $175 and up. Another way to support this endeavor would be to pay for a special note in the center of game board, called a patron ad, for $75, an economical way for small businesses and families to participate, and every space or patron ad purchased receives a free game. Proceeds collected from selling the spots pays for the manufacture of the board games.
A Sharp Music Boosters plan to order a limited number of games which will be sold for $25 each at the Darke County Fair and at local businesses. Collecting business and organization sponsorship of the game squares should be complete by April 10 and several of the locations have already been reserved. Parties interested in sponsorship should contact Faye Harmon, (937)417-0819; Lisa Diemler, (937)423-1943 or email@example.com, or Linda Snyder, firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Arcanum A Sharp Music Boosters is dedicated to supporting music education in the Arcanum-Butler School District. Funds raised by the group are used in the purchase of musical instruments, college scholarships, music contest entrance fees, educational travel and uniforms. Most recently the group has supported the purchase of new uniforms, the marching band’s travel to march in the Orlando Disney Parade, and the purchase of new sousaphones to replace the districts 30 year old ones.
