Woodcock Watch

GREENVILLE--Join a Darke County Parks’ Naturalist on Feb. 28, 5:30 p.m., to spy on the male woodcock as he struts his stuff and shows off his aerobatics for the ladies. Quite an unusual looking “shore” bird, the woodcock is present most of the year, but we only get good looks during its short mating season. Meet at the Nature Center (4267 State Route 502 West) to carpool to the viewing location. Please be sure to pre-register by calling the Nature Center, 548-0165, in the event the date needs to change to mesh up with the ground thaw (and the start of the mating season). Dress for the weather and bring binoculars if you have them. For more information on this and other programs offered by the Darke County Parks, visit www.darkecountyparks.org
