Olde Thyme Gardeners hosting Spring Gardening Workshop

GREENVILLE—“Break the Blues and Get Ready for Spring” with the Olde Thyme Gardeners and the Darke County Parks for their annual Spring Gardening Workshop to be held Feb. 23, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Shawnee Prairie Nature Center, 4267 State Route 502, Greenville, Ohio 45331.

Two very popular speakers are returning this year as well as a newcomer. Donna Kronenberger and Bob Henn were so well received at last Spring’s workshop that they have been invited back. Donna will be speaking on a new topic, “Micro Greens.” She has a blog at ThrivingGoneRaw.com and maintains a store front presence at 3rd Street Market in Greenville. Noted author Robert L. Henn will continue his discussion of Ohio’s Wildflowers. Robert is a Professor Emeritus at Sinclair Community College in Dayton.

New this year will be Mark Webber from WHIO’s radio program “Garden Talk.” We are excited to welcome him to spend the afternoon discussing “Growing Vegetables in Winter” and “Weed Control.” Mark has his own landscaping nursery and farm in Dayton and can be found on his blog at gardentalkwhio.ning.com.

Pre-registration is required and the workshop is limited to the first 50 participants, so be sure to sign up early! The fee is $30, which covers the cost of speakers, materials and a catered lunch. If you would like a lunch, registration is required by Feb. 13. The cost is $25 if you register after Feb. 13 and you will be on your own for lunch. Of course, you may register for $25 at any time for the workshop only and no lunch. Please call Olde Thyme Gardener President Bethany DuPuy, 547-0877 or 937-417-8917, for more information.
