Kayne Kauffman earns first Kaltenbach Memorial Award

LEBANON – Kayne Kauffman, Darke County native and Franklin Monroe High School graduate, continues to move up the ranks in harness racing with his first Jerry Kaltenbach Memorial Award as the leading money winner for a driver. Joining him as an award winner is the man that trains some of the horses Kauffman drives, Martin Wollam. The duo earned $204,268 and $205,413 respectively.

Kauffman becomes only the 10th driver to earn the award since it was established in 1989. The award was created by the Ohio Standardbred Development Fund Committee to honor Jerry Kaltenbach, a founding father of the program.

Kauffman and Wollam led 56 other drivers and 108 trainers in money won in sires stakes races last year. One of the horses driven by Kauffman was also honored as the 2-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year. Feelin Lika Winner earned three wins, four seconds and one third in eight starts and earned $96,785.
