Garst Museum hosts Trostel for Booktalk at The Museum

GREENVILLE--The Museum Store at Garst will host author, Scott D. Trostel, for a talk and book signing for his book, And Through the Black Night of Terror on Feb. 16. The booktalk, free and open to the public, begins at 1 p.m. in the Lowell Thomas Meeting Room (enter by the rear museum entrance).

Everyone has heard stories of the events that occurred in Dayton during the Great Flood of 1913. Now, find out how the people of the Northern Miami Valley coped with this natural disaster. Scott has researched through many archives to piece together how the counties of Darke, Champaign, Logan, Miami, and Shelby were affected by the worst natural disaster in our area.

Trostel, from Fletcher, is the author of 46 books including this newest regional history title. In addition to his flood book, Trostel has recently released three other titles, The Dayton & Troy Electric Railway, The Western Ohio Railway and Baldwin: Fifty Years at Eddystone, volume 1. All of these titles will be available at the booktalk. He has also penned, The Lincoln Funeral Train and its companion book The Lincoln Inaugural Train. He is Henry Ford’s biographer as a railroad president, and has penned several industrial history books including one about the Lima Locomotive Works, Building a Lima Locomotive plus his newly released DVD documentary history of the Loco Works titled, The Building of Lima Super-Power. He has appeared on the History Channel, worked behind the scenes with Hallmark Productions, and provides historical consulting to several film and media networks as well as the Library of Congress.

Garst Museum and The National Annie Oakley Center is located at 205 North Broadway in Greenville. To tour the museum complex normal admission prices are in effect. The museum’s hours of operation are Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call 548-5250.
