According to Dan Gavin, Springfield division vice president for ALDI, pointed out the new store will have higher ceilings, better lighting and environmentally friendly building materials, such as energy saving refrigeration and light bulbs. He expects the recycled materials will offer customers a simple and easy-to-navigate shopping experience.
The remodel is strictly aesthetic as the store is not expanding or adding additional products.
To celebrate the grand re-opening of the store, ALDI will host a ribbon cutting on March 1, 8:45 a.m., which the public is invited to attend then tour the store. Guests will also be able to enter an on-site sweepstakes for a chance to win ALDI gift certificates.
ALDI opened in 1976 in Iowa and is headquartered in Batavia, IL. Today, ALDI has more than 1,200 stores in 32 states, from Kansas to the East Coast, serving more than 25 million customers each month.
