House's Butchering Expands Recall to Include Beef

VERSAILLES—House’s Butchering, LLC is issuing a precautionary, voluntary recall of an unknown amount of beef products from cattle which may contain spinal cord and vertebral column materials. The United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service classify these materials as a low health risk.

Products involved in this recall include all beef slaughtered and processed at House’s Butchering LLC from 1/1/11 to 12/28/12. The products may bear the Ohio Department of Agriculture mark of inspection and “Est. 54” within the symbol outline of Ohio, or the product may be labeled NFS (Not For Sale). These products will also contain a five digit code beginning with “11“ or “12”.

The problem was discovered as part of an inspection by the Ohio Department of Agriculture. There have been no customer illnesses or complaints reported.

House’s urges their customers who have purchased or had beef processed to contact them or return the designated packages to the company.
