February activities at Bradford Public Library

BRADFORD—The following activities have been scheduled at the Bradford Public Library for the month of February.

Computer Keyboarding/Typing Series. A four-week keyboarding/typing class will begin Feb. 2, 10 a.m. This series is designed for those who feel their basic keyboarding skills weak and for those who would like to master the keyboard. Participants will learn the home row and the proper technique of keyboarding, function buttons and short cut keys, and will receive a training booklet to take home. The instructor will have a question and answer session each class to target subjects specifically for you! Sharon Moore, Bradford School’s business teacher, will be the trainer. The entire course of four sessions is only $20, payable to Bradford Public Library.

Genealogy and Ancestry. The library’s genealogist, Joan Cain, and her husband, Bob, will be available the second Saturday of every month, 11 a.m., to assist those interested in genealogy, whether searching online or choosing to walk the path of your ancestor’s history. There is no need to sign-up, just come with questions, papers and pictures.

Polaris Day. The library’s new automation system POLARIS is here and ready to be used. In order to serve patrons who may be able to come during the day for an update on how to use the new features and search methods, Bradford Public Library will be sponsoring POLARIS DAY on Feb. 21, 1, 3 or 6 p.m. Each session is the same, looking at the Patron Access module that is now updated to 21st century services, and will last less than an hour. Light refreshments served.

Library Loving Volunteers. The library will be holding its first 2013 Volunteer Team meeting Feb. 7, 3 p.m., for those who love books, e-readers, computers, the Internet, history, genealogy, working with children and adults and have several available hours every week! Participants will receive training on the fundamentals of shelving books and library materials, an overview of computer technology programs and other events that the Volunteer Team heads up! Volunteers are an integral part of how the public library functions and serves the community!

Spring Book Sale. The library’s spring book sale will be held April 21 – 27. A variety of books, DVD’s, CD’s, tapes & VHS will be available to purchase for a very minimal cost. The library’s Volunteer Team is in charge of the sale.

Fine Free Week runs in conjunction with the Spring Book Sale! Whether or not you have a large or small fine, come to the library during this special week and we will excuse the fine!
