Lions club collects items for our troops

BRADFORD – The Bradford Lions are collecting items for care packages to send to our deployed troops overseas. "Roar for the Troops" is a Lions' zone project to remember those servicemen and women who are still serving our country abroad. The collection begins Oct. 15 and concludes Nov. 4. This will allow them time to package the items and send the items in time for the Christmas holiday.

The Bradford Lions is asking the public to join them in this project by dropping off donations at Clark's Pizza House, Bradford, 3-10 p.m. Monetary donations will also be accepted and should be mailed to Bradford Lions, c/o Dave Hunt, 510 Patty Drive, Bradford, Ohio 45308. Monetary donations will be used to purchase items for troops as someone has already donated the cost of postage.

Suggested items for donation are beef jerky/Slim Jims, powdered drink mixes, sunflower seeds, protein bars, snack packages of Oreos, cheese and crackers, trail mix, granola, dry soup (just add water), microwave foods such as, popcorn, mac n cheese, oatmeal packs, small cereal boxes, etc. They also need travel size baby wipes, hand sanitizer, combs, brushes, lip balms, toothpaste and toothbrushes, breath mints, loufa sponges, emery boards, Q tips, cotton balls, band-aids, gauze pads, and first aid kits. They would also appreciate pens, mechanical pencils, small note books, stationery and envelopes, small pocket calendars, game books, crossword puzzles books, new playing cards, Nerf footballs, black, olive, or white socks, fly swatters, and patriotic knickknacks.

If you have any questions, call Kathy Myers, 448-2667, or Joanne Ferree, 620-7225.
