Greenville BPW Hosts Guest Night

GREENVILLE--The Guest Night Committee of the Greenville Business & Professional Women’s (BPW) Club hosted the Oct. 11th meeting which was held at Brethren Retirement Center’s Chestnut Village.

Diane Delaplane and her committee members Bev Delk, Phyllis Miller, and Andria Haworth planned an educational and fun evening. Krista Fourman, Director of Darke County Solid Waste, was the featured speaker. Krista discussed how landfills are made and what safety precautions are taken when building a landfill. To enhance her presentation, Krista built, with the help of all BPW members, the “Edible Landfill.” In addition to discussing the creation of landfills, Fourman reviewed some of the district’s most popular recycling events and programs. Projects they handle through the year are 9-volt battery exchange, appliance, tire, Christmas tree and electronic collections and trash bash. Over 1200 volunteer hours were spent on the trash bash this year which involved cleaning 604 miles of roads in Darke County. Missy Werling from the Darke County Solid Waste District also assisted with the presentation.

The Club is working on their upcoming fundraiser ‘Breakfast with Santa’ scheduled for Dec. 15, 9 a.m., at the VFW Hall in Greenville, at a cost of $5. For more information or reservations please call Susan Fowble, 548-1414.

The Greenville BPW Club’s mission is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education, and information.
