GREENVILLE – For the past 40 years of playing professionally, Blain and Brian Swabb of Spittin’ Image have had numerous experiences and wonderful opportunities, such as opening for Neil McCoy in 1998, and their latest gigs in Florida performing for two months out of the year for the wonderful resort/retirement facilities there. Their most recent opportunity will allow them to share their music across the country.
A few months ago, Spittin’ Image was given the chance to perform on a national TV show, The Shotgun Red Variety show on RFD-TV. The Shotgun Red Variety Show is filmed in Nashville, TN on the General Jackson Showboat, and Spittin’ Image was picked from approximately 2,500 entries to perform. Being one of the 78 acts chosen to perform this year, Blain and Brian enthusiastically accepted the invitation and filmed their segment in January 2012 in
The show is broadcast on Direct TV and Dish Network cable systems all over the country. The show airs on Monday nights during prime time, and replays on Tuesday mornings. The show that Spittin’ Image performed on will air June 4, 7 p.m., June 5, 9 a.m., and June 10, 1 p.m. If you do not receive the RFD-TV channel, the show will hopefully be aired on the Greenville Public Access channel soon. Footage of Spittin’ Image is also featured in a clip that is a montage of several acts in the opening credits of the show.
They will be doing a “back by popular demand” segment this season, and 10 or 12 acts will be invited to return…hopefully Spittin’ Image (with your help and feedback) will one of those lucky few.
In addition to the wonderful opportunity for national exposure, Spittin’ Image had the awesome experience of working with a wonderful TV host and crew, and had a great live audience in attendance during the filming. Blain and Brian are so excited and feel blessed to have had this happen. The group has a large following in this area and they wanted to share their excitement and accomplishment with all of Darke County.Local entertainers Blain and Brian Swabb of Spittin’ Image will be celebrating 40 years of playing professionally July 2012. The identical twins have had numerous experiences and wonderful opportunities, from opening for Margo Smith at the Darke County Fair when they were 15 years old, and having Faron Young at their nightclub (My Brother’s Place) and performing with him. They also have opened for David Allen Coe, Neil McCoy, and Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, among others. Spittin’ Image performs over 500 shows each year, and covers eight different states in the process, including their Florida tour.
