“Roll for a Cure” raises $10,000 for CADC

DARKE COUNTY—The third annual Bunco 4 Boobies took place March 18 and it was another great success. More than 250 women and men went to the Eagles in Greenville to “Roll for a Cure” and raise money for the fight against Breast Cancer.
The event all began three years ago, when a group of 16 Arcanum women started playing Bunco for ‘girl’s night out.’ Group member Kelly Fourman was diagnosed with cancer and soon the others decided to have a fundraiser to help Fourman and her family. “I had good insurance,” said Fourman, “so I told them to donate to the Cancer Association of Darke County.”
That first year, after giving Fourman a small amount, $3,500 was donated to CADC. The following year, attendance at the Bunco 4 Boobies fundraiser was about the same as the first year, however, $7,000 was raised and donated to CADC.
This year, another member of the group was diagnosed with cancer and the girls “went all out” managing to raise enough to donate $10,000 to CADC as well as additional donations to several local breast cancer patients.
This year Christine Sparks and Frank Ullmer, a brother and sister who lost their mother, Betty Sparks, to breast cancer many years ago, won the Best Dressed prize for ‘rocking out’ in their pink outfit.
The event was also a time to remember and honor those family members and friends who have lost their lives to cancer or are still in the middle of their fight.
Between each round of ruling dice and playing the game, donated items from the following 2012 event sponsors were given to “A Cup” and “DD Cup” raffle winners: Dayton Freight Lines, Inc., Sink Jewelers, Buckeye Business Solutions LLC, Good Samaritan Hospital, Serendipity Salon, Beauty Systems Group, Eagles, Archer & Sartoris Promotions Inc., Pratt Industries, Jafe Decorating, Taco Bell Greenville, American Legion Greenville, Pose Post, Miller’s Tavern, Longfellow’s Restaurant Greenville, Mikesell’s Potato Chips by Travis Lumpkin, Thai 9, Subway at Pak-A-Sak Arcanum, Subway of Greenville, Marco’s Pizza Greenville, Brumbaugh’s Fruit Farm, Dew Drop Baskets, Tastefully Simple by Katrina Loxley, Ghyslain’s Chocolatier, Mandy Troutwine, Avon by Missy Pohl, Farmer Brown’s Restaurant, Mary Kay by Janean Campbell, Premier Designs Jewelry by Anjanette Clark, Thirty-One by Laura Van Hoose, Fairlawn Steakhouse, Cut-Curl & Tan, Belle Fiole Tanning, Pamela’s Intimate Apparel, K&B Molded Products, Nealeigh Vet Services - Dr. Christa Nealeigh, Picnic’s Pizza, Yes, Deere, Second National Bank, Arcanum Lanes, Helzberg Jewelers, Rhi-Invented, Custom Aerosol Packaging, Melaleuca by Cortney Gray, Shannon’s Sweets, Robert Penny Landscaping, David Nealeigh, Custom Creations Body Shop, Troutwine’s Auto Sales & Service, GNC, Thirty-One by Kelly Rebernak, Dual Spool by Josh Paul, Just Jewelry by Tracy Steele, Premier Jewelry by Mindy Wright, The Winery of Versailles, AVIS Car Rental, Advocare by Kris Skinner, Dayton Docs, Danielle Sink, Judy Miller, Mary Kay by Jennifer Hackney, Darke County YMCA, Garbig & Schmidt, FM Bunco Girls, Jody McGrath, Scentsy by Gala Stites, Country Lane Treasures, Kristy O’Brien, Mary Sease, Kroger Greenville, PE Services Lebanon, Nancy’s Beauty & Tanning Salon, Mary Kay by Lori Norris, Petey’s Pizza Arcanum, Cookie Bouquet Greenville, Hibbett Sports Greenville, Chanawich Rodprajong, Baby Books & More by Amy Reedy, Brenda Eubanks, Sutton’s IGA Arcanum, Greenville National Bank, Drew Ag Transport Inc., Christine Sparks, Chantel Wilt, Miss Audrey Heiser, Miss Araya Musselman, The Heiser Family, The Kinney Family, The Fourman Family, The Baker Family, The Weaver Family, The Sink Family, The Pohl Family, The Artz Family.
