VERSAILLES – Once again the Versailles Agricultural Education
Department and FFA Chapter will be having its second annual
Greenhouse Sale. The greenhouse has allowed the agricultural education students
to apply knowledge learned in the classroom and hands on experience. Some
of the plants, students have started by cuttings, other started as seeds and
transplanted, and some were purchased as small plugs.
If you have been past the greenhouse you can tell it is full of
many plants. The Greenhouse will open April 20 and 23 for Versailles School
staff, parents of FFA members, FFA members, and Versailles FFA Alumni. The
greenhouse will be open Monday through Friday from 3:30-5:30 p.m, Saturdays 8
a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and closed on Sundays.
The Greenhouse will be open to the public starting April 24-May
31 while supplies last. Flowers that will be available include Annuals:
calibrachoa, Impatiens: lipstick mix, red Xp, white Xp, Supertunia: Rasberry
Blast, Picasso, red, white, and purple, Petunia: Pink, purple, and red, Salvia,
Dusty Miller, Euphorbia graminea “Diamond frost”, Verbena; pink, red, white,
purple, Vinca Vine, wondering Jew, Spike, Cyperus Coleus: “solar” and “Peters
Wonder”, Juncus “twister”, Angelonia, Lobelia, Sweet Potato Vine, Geranium:
Pink, red, coral. For the first time, we will also be offering
Perennials, which includes: Stella de oro “ Day Lilly”, Prairie Blue Grass,
Rubeckid Goldstrum “ Black eyed Susan”, Hosta, Dianthus, and Heuchera
“Coral Bells”. Vegetables Available: Tomatoes, Cabbage, Peppers, Melon,
Cucumbers, Broccoli, Egg Plant, Zucchini, Watermelon, and a variety of Herbs.
Also, there will be hanging baskets 10 and 12 inch pots with a variety of
planted pots, along with wrought Iron pots.
